KNITTING

 

  2 at Once or ‘Socks—a pair at a time’

(Some experience necessary)

Learn to make a small pair of socks using a circular needle.

All materials included. 2 sessions $85.00

Socks 101 class

This class is designed for knitters who have never made a pair of socks and want to learn the basic techniques and concepts of sock knitting. Students will complete a mini-sock using worsted weight wool.

Some experience necessary. 1 session $70.00

Fri. Nov. 13, 11-3

 

Knit Thrummed Mittens

Make wool lined mittens with simple decorative stitch on straight needles.

You will want to make 100’s of these.

Knit a Cardigan Sweater

Learn how to read a pattern and construct a small basic cardigan sweater.

All supplies included. 2 sessions $80.00

SPINNING

 

 BEGINNING SPINNING

       Learn how to choose a fleece, card, spin on a drop spindle and spinning wheel, ply, skein, wash and set your yarn. .

  Carders, spindles, wheels & fleece will be supplied for class & home use.

WEAVING

 

 Beginning Four Harness Weaving    

Prepare a warp, dress the loom & explore a variety of 4 harness weaves. 

4 sessions,   Limit 6 students.   $105.00

  Scottish Tartan

Learn the history, lore & most important, how to weave a Scottish Tartan. 

Each student will weave a tartan scarf in their choice of colors. 

Call ahead to let us know your color choices .  3 sessions.   $95.00 .

Color Weave

If you have trouble knowing how a color will work with others, this class is for you.  Students will start with a pre-warped loom in a spectrum of color.  You will learn how a color interacts with itself & others in plain & patterned weaves. 

 2 Sessions  $80.00

 Double weave

Discussions & hand-on loom work with some very special  weave structures.

2 sessions   $80.00

 Sat. May 22 and 29, 1:30-4:30

      A variety of techniques will be covered as a lavender scented bag is made.

 

Needle Tatting Made Easy  Fri. Dec. 18, 10:30-1:30 or Sat. May 8, 10-1

       History and techniques will be covered while making a lace edging.

 

Knit a Beaded Scarf  Fri. March 5, 10:30-1:30

     Learn to make a scarf with beads, using  a unique multi purpose needle. .

 

Spin with a Drop Spindle Sat. Nov 21, 10-1 or Sat. March 13, 1:30-4:30     

     Experience the ancient art of spinning.

 

 Warping with confidence Sat.. Nov. 28, 1:30-4:30 or Fri. Feb.19, 10:30-1:30

     Lots of tips for new or experienced weavers including  how to wind, beam,  

        thread, slay and tie on your warp with confidence.                 

 

Variegated Dyeing  Fri. Nov. 20 or Fri  April 9, 10:30 –1:30

    Create beautiful variegated  colors on yarn; a skein will be yours to take home.

 

Knit a Lace edging on a linen towel Sat. Dec.5,10-1 or Fri. March 19, 10:30-1:30

      Learn beginning lace edge knitting and how to keep track of stitches.

 

Wool combing Sat. Feb. 6, 10-1

     History, selecting fibers, washing, blending , using diz and hands on use of combs.

 

Knit a newborn’s hat  Fri. Nov. 13 10:30-1:30 or Sat.  April 10, 10-1

       Make an adorable little hat while learning how to use circular needles
